Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic, is also a public speaking event organizer. Feminist Frequency was founded by Sarkeesian. It hosts video clips with commentary that analyze the representations of women that are prevalent in contemporary culture. Anita Sarkeesian has been a media critic, blogger and a prestigious feminist for more than a decade. Feminist Frequency examines the way women are represented in the popular media. As well as working to highlight the problems surrounding the harassment and targeted attacks on women, other minorities in online spaces she is dedicated to breaking the stereotypes prevalent in popular culture. Sarkeesian is a graduate in political and social thinking from York University. As a public speaker, she is extremely sought-after and has given talks at TEDxWomen XOXO and United Nations Broadband Working Group. Feminist Frequency was founded in 2009 by Sarkeesian, an undergraduate student at York University who had been involved in topics concerning gender and feminism for a long time. The ambitious lady planned to create a web series examining gender-based representations in video games. She was the subject of a harassment online campaign. However the attack could be a deterrent, but it made her more determined to be a feminist media critic. Numerous awards have been given to her in recognition of all the contributions that she contributed to. Anita Sarkeesian has been a media critic for many years and founded Feminist Frequency.
