
Allison Brooks Janney (born November 19, 1959)[2] is an American actress. Her appearances on screen and stage have been a hallmark of her career , which has spanned thirty years. Janney was nominated twice for Tony Awards and has been awarded two Academy Award as well as a British Academy Film Award. Janney was born and raised between Dayton and Boston with her parents, received a scholarship from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art to further her education after graduation from Kenyon College. Janney received credit for numerous small, rarely-seen film and TV appearances throughout the years. Her breakout performance as C. J. Cregg on The West Wing of NBC The West Wing (1999-2006) was the basis for four Primetime Emmy Awards. As a result of her role as Margaret Scully, a Showtime actress in the period show Masters of Sex, Janney won her 2014 Primetime Emmy Award as Outstanding guest actor in a drama Series. She was best known for her character Bonnie Plunkett.
